Today, next to Tallinn Airport, in the area of the historic Dvigatel railway factory, is Ülemiste City – the largest and fastest growing business city in the Baltics. It has more than 100,000 m2 of office space and operates more than 500 companies with nearly 10,000 employees. Development activities have given new life and breath to the historic industrial area. The former heavy industry has been replaced by modern office space and green areas and parks. From Ülemiste City, it is planned to develop a multifunctional city with a permanent population of 5,000 by 2025. Part of this plan is the Lurich House, designed by the architectural firm PLUSS – a commercial and residential building completed in 2020, consisting of two towers. The first 81 apartments in Ülemiste City are located in the higher 13-storey building, which is for both short-term and long-term rent.
