Address:Tatari 2, Tallinn
Architects:2022, DAGOpen arhitektuuribüroo
In the spot where the (in)famous Söögiplats burger stand stood for a long time in Tallinn’s nightlife scene, the Kawe City office building has been located since 2022. This seven-story building offers nearly 9,500 square meters of office space. The facade of the two-story building at the beginning of Tatari Street, designed by Ernst Kühnert, was preserved and integrated into the new structure. The architects aimed to create a versatile architectural language that reflects the different approaches to the building at the intersection of the distinct streets of Estonia Boulevard and Tatari Street. Therefore, the side facing Estonia Boulevard embodies a grand, metropolitan scale and atmosphere, while on the narrower and more intimate Tatari Street, Kawe City follows the slower rhythm of smaller buildings.
As is typical for modern office buildings, the design of Kawe City follows green principles – the building, which has an A energy rating, emphasizes natural light and a healthy indoor climate. The underground parking garage includes charging stations for electric vehicles, and part of the building’s general electricity needs is covered by solar panels located on the roof.
The developer of Kawe City is Kawe AS.
