The building complex on Mäepealse Street is likely associated by many, especially those with driver’s licenses, with the acronym ARK (currently the Transport Administration). However, historically, this is the Tallinn Audio Cassette Factory complex, which began construction under the pines of Mustamäe in the late 1970s. The cassette factory itself started operations in 1971 in a building located on Nõmme-Kase Street. The building at Heli Street 8, which houses the Larsen Real Estate dormitory Stereo House, was taken over by the factory in 1983. After a major renovation, the building is now a modern dormitory – a comprehensive living environment that, in addition to fully furnished rooms, offers spacious common areas, a rooftop terrace, and 24/7 customer service. With 94 rooms (including studio or loft-type units and one-bedroom apartments), the target audience is students of the nearby Tallinn University of Technology and employees of the technology campus.
