Over 4,500 People Visited Open House Tallinn on the First Day

13/10/2024

On October 12th and 13th, more than 40 buildings will open their doors, and 18 special events will take place. On the opening day of the 6th Open House Tallinn, over 4,500 people participated in tours and events. The program will continue on Sunday.

Tours are available in Estonian, English, Russian, and, for the first time, in Estonian Sign Language. This year, the focus is on accessibility and inclusion, with buildings that are wheelchair accessible specifically highlighted. A total of six tours in Estonian Sign Language will take place across five different buildings. On Saturday, the Estonian Academy of Arts hosted a special tour for the visually impaired and a sensory tour for sighted visitors, where participants’ eyes were covered.

Open House is a global series of events that began in London in 1992 and is now held in over 50 cities worldwide. The event is made possible by the collaboration of volunteers, architectural experts, building managers, and residents. Open House Tallinn is organized by the Estonian Centre for Architecture.
